    Named for the natural spring that flows here, this park is one of seven original state parks established in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It provides facilities for overnight stays, including four cabins, 40 RV sites, and several camping sites. 

    Spanning 820 acres, the park offers plenty of hiking trails with delightful features along the way, such as wooden footbridges and stepping stone paths through shallow waters. If you’re a beginner, you’ll find five trails in the system withlengths and terrains that you can easily handle.

    For food, you can opt to bring along a picnic lunch. If you prefer a more rustic experience, take your fishing gear with you and cast off the seven-acre, spring-fed Shaul Lake.

    The park hosts a seasonal swimming pool, water slide, and rock wall that have long been a big hit with kids. There are shaded seating areas to relax, with a nearby concession stand for when you get hungry.

    An expansive recreational facility, Crystal Beach offers an Aquatics Center, picnic grounds, playgrounds, and fishing areas. There are also plenty of outdoor cooking areas where you can make a meal of your catch on site, or just spread out a picnic.

    If you are into sports, you’ll enjoy the tennis courts, a mini-golf course, horseshoe courts, and swimming pools. An on-site pro shop offers sports equipment, as well as golf clubs and carts for hire.

    Historically home to the Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, and Arapaho tribes, and one of the main stops along the Great Western Cattle Trail, Woodward has a long and culturally-rich past.

    The Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum features a treasure trove of artwork from this bygone era, with murals from Pat “Kemoha” Patterson and Jana Sol on display.
    The museum also offers a chance to immerse yourself in frontier town settings. Vignettes of gunslinger Temple Houston’s office and parlor, a saloon, jail, and newspaper office are all set up to give a live representation of what it was like to live in those times.
